How This Notebook Is Edited

The aim is to make piano craft understandable without flattening its uncertainties. We begin with what a player hears and follow the physical relationships behind it.

Independent, specific and open to correction

What this website is

Pickleparadepopixa.store is an independent informational publication operated by Pickleparadepopixa Instrument Media Ltd. It is not a piano retailer, workshop, valuation service or acoustic consultancy. We address pianists, owners and interested listeners who want better questions to bring to a qualified professional.

How we use sources

Historical claims are grounded in museum collections and reference works. Technical explanations draw on established acoustics and piano-service literature. Maker publications help explain particular design choices, but are identified as manufacturer accounts rather than independent comparisons.

The chapter reading lists include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Royal Collection Trust, Piano Technicians Guild, Institute of Conservation, Institute of Acoustics and published works by Arthur H. Benade, Arthur A. Reblitz, Leo Beranek and Heinrich Kuttruff. Links lead to source organisations; they do not imply endorsement or affiliation.

Images and demonstrations

Component renders are conceptual illustrations, not service drawings, measured reconstructions or evidence of a particular manufacturer’s process. Workshop photographs provide general human-craft context. Do not use an illustration to locate an adjustment or decide whether a component is safe to remove.

Corrections and reader questions

If you spot an error, send the page address, the relevant passage and a reliable source supporting the correction. We distinguish factual corrections from differences in musical preference. A reader’s description may suggest a useful future article, but it cannot establish the condition of an unseen piano.

We do not claim affiliation with the makers, museums or professional organisations mentioned. External websites control their own content and may change after publication. Our legal and privacy information explains the limits of the website and how correspondence is handled.
